Unemployment Status How Tragic Can It Be?

| PostAuthorIcon Author: admin

Unemployment Status LebHRUnemployment status has always been a depressing situation for most job seekers and employees, but to what extent? Of course job seekers will be effected by being unemployed, especially with cost of living increasing and in the case of general poverty in the family.

In Lebanon, unemployment rates are estimated at 20% (consider that against the US rates!) according to studies posted  here by Magma Group, and that is one tremendous number! Even though with the growth of social media, job boards, recruitment agencies, these numbers are still high due to several reasons which are not the topic of my article today (hint: high recruiter expectations, low salaries, will discuss this in a later article..promise!).

Back to unemployment status, for most unemployed people this leads to depression, as a worst case, or maybe not really a worst case, where in Lebanon it has lead to suicide for two same family members.. a father and a son!

As reported by AljadeedTV in the show LelNasher, the son named “Zahed Zougheib” attempted suicide in the last few days due to a very bad social condition, is residing in a hospital now at life risk after jumping off a cliff,  following the suicide of his father “Nabil Zougheib” who also committed suicide due to his inability to support his family!

It is very sad that unemployment status reaches this level of tragedy, probably combined with social pressure and maybe some other factors of which we are unaware. You might think there is something psychological in the family, but still the issue needs to be resolved!

Is this something acceptable? certainly not! What actions need to be done to avoid such situations in the future? What is the role of HR, company owners to eliminate this? and certainly what is the role of government in preventing these sad cases? Let us know in the comments section below
