Who’s better to sit in for an interview with than Dunder Mifflin Scranton’s own Michael Scott, “World’s Best Boss” ?! We arranged to have this great “fictional” interview with Michael (based upon actual quotes from The Office) to learn from his expertise and allow our readers to grasp from his knowledge and amazing character..lol
On to the interview!
So Michael, let us start by asking you, would you rather be feared or loved?
“Would I rather be feared or loved? Umm…easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.”
Interesting Michael! so how do you consider your relationship with your team?
“I’m friends with everybody in this office. We’re all best friends. I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late and start having dentist appointments that aren’t dentist appointments, and that is when it’s nice to let them know that you could beat them up.”
How do you perceive your employees?
“You may look around and see two groups here: white collar, blue collar. But I don’t see it that way, and you know why not? Because I am collar-blind.”
And what is your proudest moment at Dunder Mifflin?
“My proudest moment here wasn’t when I increased profits by 17 percent, or cut expenditures without losing a single member of staff. No, no, no. It was a young Guatemalan guy, first job in the country, barely spoke a word of English, but he came to me and said, ‘Mr. Scott, will you be the godfather to my child?’ Didn’t work out in the end. We had to let him go. He sucked.”
Alright, so what do you consider your best characteristic?
“Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I dunno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I’ll hit somebody with my car. So sue me– no, don’t sue me. That is opposite the point I’m trying to make.”
What do you think would happen if you stop being the boss?
“What happens to a company if somebody takes a boss away? I will answer your question with a question. It’s like, what happens to a chicken when you take its head away? It dies. Unless you find a new head. I need to see which one of these people have the skills to be a chicken head.”
Any last words of wisdom to your thrilled audience?
“That’s what she said!”
Alright thank you Michael, as always it has been very impressive and informative .. thank you for your time!
